As elegant as the “Merwyn” sofa and armchair by Wittmann are, you might think they were designed by an Englishman especially for their stylish custom of Afternoon Tea. In fact, the quality furniture, which combines contemporary materials with traditional craftsmanship, comes from the pen of the German designer Sebastian Herkner. Nevertheless, the impression is not entirely misleading, because Herkner, who won the 2015 Elle Deco International Design Award for best international newcomer, gained his first professional experience during his studies as an intern of Stella McCartney in London. So, if you’re sitting down on the feel-good furniture in the Wohnidee boutique in Lucerne on a rainy November day, imagine sitting on it in your living room, wrapped in a blanket, while holding a cup of hot tea in your hands and a good book on your lap. Now that’s a way to enjoy the cold season!
